Today two incredibly inspiring beauties, Alexa Gray of Super Food Super Life and Paula of Scents of Awe, have joined forces to create this stunning recipe that is sans cacao and sugar!!! Can we all say thank you universe? I can.
A | What happens when you deprive your body of the things that it craves most? What is it like eliminating sugar, cacao, and caffeine from the diet? Well, at first it is pretty rough, but with time, the body finds itself with a regained sense of peace. During my 21 Day Transformation, I have decided to omit these foods from my diet, and I am one serious chocoholic. Yet I realized that when I stopped respecting this beautiful food, and found myself trying to get it into my mouth as quickly as possible, I needed to take a break.
A self-imposed hiatus can feel so incredibly healthy and invigorating. In the words of the goddess herself, Joni Mitchell, you don’t really know what you got till it’s gone. Many of us have so much access to so many different exquisite plants, foods, products, people, and despite that we must make sure to give all of it the respect that it deserves. We don’t know the history of that coffee bean, that honey bee, or that cacao plant. Maybe there is a whole world of flavor and history to explore and meditate on, but if we are more focused on getting ‘the fix’ we could miss out on this depth and magic that exists within all living things.
Together, we wanted to create an optional caffeine and cacao free latte (if you feel like taking that break with us) that is still full of benefits and absolutely mouthwatering. We give you the Chaga Morning Star Latte.
CHAGA MORNING STAR LATTE
recipe by Paula of Scents of Awe
2 pinch Nutmeg powder
2 pinch Cardamom
1 pinch Cayenne
2 pinch Turmeric Extract
2 pinch Ashwagandha Extract
1tsp Ceylon Cinnamon
12 drops Vanilla Stevia (alcohol free)
1 Tbsp Lucuma powder
2 Tbsp Healthy Fat (Coconut Oil, MCT, Ghee, Raw Butter)
1.5 Tbsp Scents Of Awe 'Morning Star MCT' oil blend
1 cup Chaga Reishi Vanilla brew
1/2 cup Hot Water
3/4 cup Cashew Milk
Optional caffeine additions
- Chai Tea brew or powder
- Matcha Green Tea powder
1-2 Vanilla Bean pod skins (after seeds have been harvested)
1 2" piece of Reishi or 1-2 Tbsp Reishi Powder
1. Soak cashews (if possible)
2. Blend 1/4 cup cashews with 3 cups spring water (no need to strain if using a Vitamix blender)
Step 1: Infuse Reishi, Chaga, and Vanilla pods while boiling with the water for 20-30 minutes. For a more potent blend you can simmer until desired potency is reached.
Step 2: Combine all ingredients into a high powered blender (Vitamix), adding in approximately 16oz of the Adaptogenic Tea Blend. Add sweeteners and spices to desired taste.
Step 3: Take care to blend slowly at first to avoid burns.
Step 4: Enjoy the beauty and delight in your cup
