Today marks day seven of my kitchari cleanse. And I’m very excited to see it through for a full nine. For those of you that have inquired about the specifics of my cleanse, do gain a bit more knowledge of a kitchari cleanse here (I absolutely love the way Oh, Holy Basil describes it). I personally have made up my own modified version.
Wake Up (5:20a on the dot every morning. It’s wild!)
½ c of warm lemon water with ½ a lemon squeezed in it, and tiniest dash of cayenne.
Drink two tablespoons of melted ghee.
Abhyanga before showering.
I proceed to eat kitchari throughout the day when I am hungry.
I’ll fit this insane turmeric latte in once throughout the day (below).
A handful of sprouted nuts when I need a snack, or a pitted date when I need a sweet.
Before retiring to bed, I’ll have 1 tablespoon of triphala in 1/c of hot water
Bed (10p I can’t keep my eyes open)
I do have to say that this cleanse has been such an incredible experience. It’s had the exact same results physically as when I was fully raw. My skin is just as even and glowing (like whoa!). My eyes are incredibly white. I’ve shed weight. My sleep cycles are beyond even and deep. And most shockingly of all, I’m unbelievably grounded and “tapped in”. All while staying warm and feeling truly nourished.
Now onto my new favorite drink (in the whole world) that I’ll continue to drink everyday. This is my modified rendition of the ultra famous I Am Golden Turmeric Latte recipe by Cafe Gratitude.
1 ½ c hot water
½ teaspoon turmeric
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ slice of ginger | peeled
1 tablespoon of Sun Potion tacos (optional)
1 tablespoon of Gelatin (optional)
2 tablespoons hemp seeds
2 dates pitted | or stevia to taste if you have blood sugar instability
pinch of salt
PROCESS | add all ingredients to the blender. Blend on high for 1 minute. Pour into mug of choice through a fine mesh strainer. This turmeric latte is everything.
